VASI and PAPI
By remaining on the glidepath as indicated by a VASI or PAPI the pilot is assured of obstacle clearance in the approach area. If the aircraft is slightly below the glidepath, the pilot should momentarily level the aircraft (stop the descent) to reacquire the glidepath.
